Nature falls asleep, and man rests — that's what our ancestors thought for many winters, warming themselves at the stove and enjoying the summer reserves. The fate of each family depended on the nature of nature, which is why weather observations are so firmly woven into folk songs, fairy tales, sayings and omens.

Of course, most winter signs are associated with attempts to predict the weather forecast in order to better determine the time of spring sowing and meet the new winter in abundance.
It is difficult for modern people to catch the crunch of ice on the river, admire the winter patterns on wooden windows or follow the movement of smoke from the stove, so many signs were left out. • Large snowflakes or frost on the branches predict warmth.
• The friendly chirping of sparrows leads to a thaw.
Crows are sitting on the tops of trees, which means there will be frost, and a strong wind on the lower branches.
Clouds flying against the wind will bring snow.
• The starry sky on February 1 promises a long cold snap.

The warm sun has always been looked forward to — winter gets angry, but spring always submits.
A mild December heralds a long winter and a late spring.
• A warm January will turn into a cold March, but harsh Januaries rarely repeat for several years in a row.
• Gentle February is deceptive — spring will be frosty.
• If there is a snowstorm on Epiphany, then there will be a snowstorm on Easter.
• Sunny weather on Tatiana's Day (January 25) promises early spring, and snowfall — rainy summer.
• Clear skies on February 1 indicate early spring.

• A harsh winter will bring a hot summer, and after a warm winter comes a cool summer.
• December snowfalls will turn into a rainy beginning of June, January snowflakes foreshadow rains in July.
